Do you know how your tongue works? How does it do what it does?

We have tailored the KS2 version of ‘Taste’ to cover aspects of the ‘Animals including humans’ section of the Key Stage Two science programmes of study from the National Curriculum. We aim to help the children build on their understanding of their KS1 body parts and the five senses by looking at their sense of taste in the role of human health and development. We help enhance the children’s understanding of ‘Taste’ by using our four STEM elements with an extension section, building on the schools teaching of the human body, to show how scientific advancements have helped us understand how our tongue has evolved to ensure our sense of taste works correctly and ensure that we are getting the right nutritional value from our food!
